About Sharon Dowey

Sharon Dowey is a South Scotland Region MSP for the Scottish Conservatives. Born in Girvan and raised in Maybole, Sharon has lived and worked in Ayrshire all her life. Prior to her election in 2021, Sharon was a Senior Manager with the Morrisons supermarket chain.

After working in retail for over 30 years, she was elected into the Scottish Parliament in May 2021.

Her local priorities include infrastructure improvements including A70 and A77, improving employment opportunities in the area, supporting local businesses and protecting local health services.

Sharon is the Deputy Justice Spokesperson working with Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Russell Findlay MSP, to hold the SNP to account on their handling of the justice system.

Sharon is also a member of the Criminal Justice Committee which focuses on the Criminal Justice system in Scotland, including:

  • Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
  • Courts, including the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service
  • Prosecution and the work of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service
  • The Scottish Prison Service and community sentencing
